What were the main changes brought about by the Bolsheviks immediately after the October Revolution?

Answers

Industries and banks were nationalised. This meant that the government now had their ownership and management. The land was declared social property and peasants were allowed to seize the land of the nobility. In cities, Bolsheviks enforced the partition of large houses according to family requirements. The use of the old titles of the aristocracy was banned. New uniforms for the army and officials were designed. The Bolshevik Party was renamed as the Russian Communist Party (Bolshevik). Despite opposition by their political allies, the Bolsheviks made peace with Germany and withdrew from the First World War. In the later years, the Bolsheviks became the only party to participate in the elections to the All Russian Congress of Soviets. It became the Parliament of Russia.

In many countries, citizens are required to serve in the military for a year or more. Do you believe the United
States should institute a similar practice? Why or why not?

Answers

Answer:

As to your question, mandatory military service (aka the draft) has been done here in the past.  And apart from a world war, it shouldn't be used.

The reason I say that is when a draft is in place, you have people who are serving who have no desire to be there.  When you have that, disciplinary problems increase, desertion and AWOL rates go up.  Commanders  then have to deal with the malcontents through various punishments, which consume an inordinate amount of time.

Further, you would have to increase the size of the Military Police to deal with the increases in disciplinary problems and the resultant crime.  It all adds up to a bad situation.

We have never fielded a more professional military prior to the all volunteer military.  These folks serve willingly and are less likely to have disciplinary problems.  They also take their craft seriously and perform at a better standard than in decades past when we did have a draft.

When evidence is collected in a bag and sealed with tape: the tape should cover the entire seal, the tape should be signed all the way across the seal, and it must be re-sealed and re-signed if it gets opened again.

These procedures are very important because the information collected at the scene of the crime could be determinant to resolve the crime. Police, detectives, and specialists know that they must keep evidence from any intromission and cannot be corrupted to do proper research.

Every police department has their manuals and procedures guidelines to correctly handle evidence.
